DeviceNFT: A Unique Approach to Crypto Security and Uniqueness

I agree with brownPinkWater completely. I understand you guys have good intentions, but this is a little bit too much in my opinion.

Also, I have a brother, we live together and use the same devices. we’re both human and we have never cheated in our lives. there can be 4-5-6 people living together, all in crypto and using the same devices basically. plus, what information is being taken from the devices other than the ip addresses? there’s just way too many negatives to this proposal than positives and I will respectfully object to this one

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I understand your concerns and I want to assure you that the privacy and security of users are our top priorities.

In the case of multiple users sharing a device, we’re considering the use of ERC1155 format tokens. This would allow multiple accounts to be associated with a single device, while still maintaining the uniqueness of each account.

As for the data being collected, the application will not collect raw data from your device. Instead, it will generate a hash based on certain device parameters. This hash, which cannot be reversed-engineered to obtain the original data, will be sent to the Galxe site for the minting of the NFT.

The process is designed to be quick and efficient, with the identification of a device taking place in a matter of minutes and with a minimum commission.

This proposal is primarily aimed at discouraging sybil attacks, where one person creates multiple accounts to gain an unfair advantage. If you’re not involved in such activities, you have nothing to fear.

I appreciate your feedback and I’m open to further discussions to refine this proposal. Your input is valuable in ensuring we create a system that is fair, secure, and respects user privacy.

If I bought a used mobile phone, and this mobile phone has been registered, what are the solutions?

Absolutely, that’s a great point! Just like when buying a used car, you’d want to ensure the title is transferred to you, the same applies in the web3 space with NFTs tied to devices. If you’re purchasing a used device, it’s important to ask the previous owner about any associated NFTs. If there is an NFT tied to the device, the owner should transfer it to you as part of the sale. This way, you’ll have full ownership of the device in both the physical and digital realms.

You’re welcome! I’m glad you’re interested. Here’s a bit more about the idea:

The proposed application is designed to uniquely identify each device that interacts with the Galxe platform. It does this by collecting specific device parameters and using them to generate a unique hash. This hash is then used to mint a unique NFT (Non-Fungible Token) that is stored in the user’s EVM-compatible wallet.

The primary goal of this idea is to discourage multi-accounting, a practice where a single user maintains multiple accounts. By binding each device to a unique NFT, we can ensure that each account corresponds to a unique device, making it more difficult for a user to manage multiple accounts.

Furthermore, the minted NFTs can serve as unique digital assets that can be traded or sold, adding an extra layer of functionality and value to the user experience.

The very idea of how to counteract the sybils is already good.
Users who receive an airdrop and see that projects have been given the green color to use it expand exponentially. This demotivates regular users and reduces the chance of success.

I think your proposal is not bad, but it carries a more technical context, as an ordinary user it is difficult for me to accept such information, I had to re-read the sentence a couple of times.
